Who would have thought an anime about a dragon in a maid dress would be so much fun? Although the show is carried by the other dragons who make appearances, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid combines all the fun of a random slice of life comedy with a good mythical twist.
For Fans of Anthropomorphic Girls
With his parents abroad, Kimihito Kurusu is living the quiet alone life. Or rather, he was until an incompetent interspecies exchange coordinator made him the caretakers of a Lamia named Miia. With a supernatural creature now living in his house, it serves to not only break up his peace, but attract other supernatural beings as well.
Both Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Monster Musume are cases of things starting off small and that exploding exponentially. At first there is only one supernatural creature, and then more and more show up until their small town is practically bursting with them. However, in Dragon Maid, it is just dragons, but Monster Musume features all kinds of supernatural creatures.
Mukoujima Takurou likes to spend his days fishing down at the pier. However, one day he ends up fishing up Muromi, a mermaid. While at first she doesn’t actually know she is a mermaid, Takurou manages to break the news. While also being crazy and with a bit of a drinking problem, Muromi will now make sure that Takurou’s fishing trips are never boring.
Both Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Muromi-San are about supernatural creatures, one featuring dragons the other featuring mermaids, being personified as cute girls and then commencing to be super over the top in all they do.
Terror of the seas Ika Musume has come out of the ocean to punish humanity for polluting her waters. With her ink-spitting skills and tentacles for hair, she is all set for invading Earth, but she didn’t count on two sisters bullying her into working at their seafood restaurant.
Both series are about supernatural creatures that end up living with humans. The difference being that in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is about a dragon kind of forcing her way in to repay a debt while Squid Girl is about two humans taking advantage of a sea creature.

At a glance, these two series don’t seem very similar, but both Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and The Devil Is a Part-Timer are about supernatural beings integrating into our world. Both series have you follow them as they get jobs, try at life, and lean on each other for support.
I Can’t Understand What My Husband is Saying
Although he is an otaku and she is a casual-smoking, social-drinking office lady, Hajime and Kaoru fell in love and got married. Now they must learn how to cohabitate together despite a few odd habits on both ends.
It is distinctly possible that the only thing these series have in common is that they have office ladies as main characters. However, having an otaku in the house is kind of like housing a mythical being, right?
For Fans of Slice of Life Random Comedies
Nichijou is about the daily lives of a trio of three friends who soon find their fate intertwined with a young genius, her robot maid, and talking cat. Needless to say, the normal does not ensue.
The joke in Nichijou is all about how everything seems really normal until something completely insane happens. That isn’t really the joke in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, but it is what these two series have in common.
Ever since she was little, Aoba Suzukaze has been in love with one game series in particular. So it should be no surprise when she graduates high school that she goes and works for the company that makes it. This is about her adventures in game making and the oddballs that work within.
Both series feature programmers, though Kobayashi isn’t a game programmer. However, New Game makes everyone in the office seem cute, but weird while Kobayashi’s office is more of a normal office. It is her life outside of work that is filled with the wacked out characters.
Non Non Biyori
Asahigaoka is rural village in the middle of nowhere, and for the five students who go to school there, their days are all about keeping the boredom at bay. All of different ages, their ways to entertain themselves never border on normal.
Both series share a small, young girl with pale features and a massive sense of deadpan humor. If Kanna is your favorite part of Dragon Maid, then Renge is posed to be your next spirit animal. Character similarities aside, both shows are also light-hearted slice of life comedies.
